[ The nails are already held in place by her Semblance, but Pyrrha does shuffle over to assist as requested. She holds down the last roof tile, stealing the occasional glance over as he works. Her current mood is a bit of a jumble, an underlying notion of inalienable happiness that is compounded with an odd, new sort of shyness, and feeling like she said something uncomfortably incorrect.
Well, at least she succeeded in something, even if it wasn't enticing him. She'll just have to discreetly break her own bed once they're down there.
... a raindrop hits the back of her neck, and she squeaks. ]
[ A few more drops land on them, and Jaune looks at Pyrrha in pure horror. A hand on her face, he wipes some of it off to reveal what substance it really is. Pyrrha no doubt has noticed the same tiny splashes of brown all over Jaune's half-naked body. ]
[ This might be the worst thing to ever happen! ... Pyrrha grabs Jaune's hand and pulls him into the house with her. As soon as the window is closed behind them, they can see mud splattering the glass in heavy drops.
[ Safely inside, she watches the window grey as damp mud slides down its glass panes. The effect created by it is interestingly grotesque, not unlike a painting done for shock value -- and Pyrrha might have focused on that more, except his next words are ones she feels all the way down to her knees, a jolt that could definitely be weakening. Fortunately, Pyrrha has spent a literal year of her life building up an immunity to all the times Jaune unknowingly compromises her.
Except her spectacularly failed attempt at innuendo has kind of left them operating under false pretenses. Pyrrha's a bit shamed to realise it; as she thinks about how best to rectify that, her expression changes, twisting into something rueful, uncertain. ]
Jaune...
[ dust how did they get here ]
Nora never broke my bed. I --
[ She's interrupted when, not unlike hail, a clod of frozen dirt hits the window hard enough to leave a spider crack in the glass. ]
No. Jaune - [ she lets herself be ushered, liking the brief contact that's instrinsic with it. Even splattered in muddy water, he's still naked from the waist up. And... Yeah.
Pyrrha can't quite get a bead on what she's feeling, although the weight of it is almost uncomfortable, like sucking in water in deep humdity. ]
[ He... might be getting the picture, but it's so unlike the Pyrrha he's known to suggest it, that even he hesitates to articulate it just in case HE'S WRONG. ]
[ Jaune does the thing and her heart lurches, more effectively and punishingly than it ever had before, a single rapid beat, apologetic as rivets. In a brief second, as something that could be mistaken for a naturally occuring settling of the floors, the house itself echoes her heart. Its foundations tremble (in a way that's far too inexciting to be a quake) and then still.
Truthfully, Pyrrha is glad he's the only one here to see the way she smiles. ]
I think you missed a spot.
[ that doesn't even make sense with the direction of his banter but
[ That's plenty close, really. Pyrrha's smile grows wider, a bit toothy, as their foreheads touch in consequence. Her hands hesitate a moment, only that, before finding and holding both of his. ]
No, you definitely missed a spot. [ She's teasing in turn. ] I'm sure you can see it if you come closer.
[ Pyrrha's back hits the wall, but there's hardly any aggression in it. That's fine. Their current predicament is more than enough to get her affected -- not quite bothered, but almost. It's a precipice she's been hovering at the edge of since (although she's unaware of it) the large crystal regulating emotional fallout within the city disappeared. Pyrrha's own amulet, wrapped loyally around her wrist, subtly changes colour every few seconds. Not one of them is a cool tone.
Well, that's not important, is it? The air around them fair crackles, an unease like the minutes before a storm erupts. If Pyrrha took even a moment to think, she might wonder why she's saying these things, why she's suddenly so dissatisfied with their slow, comfortable pace.
It's quite warm in here, now, leaving a faint flush across her face. There's one cure for that, but -- Well, maybe not in the hallway.
Her hands settle at his waist and then, for lack of anything else clever to add, she's kissing him.
[ Whoops, they left some mud on the wall there! But Jaune doesn't care about that, not with more important things going on in front of him. Although as good as this feels, it's his duty to pause and ask her... ]
Are you sure you're okay?
[ They've been home alone plenty of times before, but this is new. Or maybe it's just been a long time coming, perhaps ever since their first taste of wine many months ago. ]
I do feel a little odd, although it's hardly bad, [ Pyrrha admits, easing off. Between him and the wall, there isn't anywhere for her to really go, which is fine, but she does give him some breathing room.
If this isn't something he wants or thinks he's ready for, she's prepared to respect that. She barely has a plan of her own, here. Just the leading hammering of her heart, the unease of exacerbated love that's filled her all day.
Gently, she wipes some lingering mud off his forehead. (Still gross. Ew.) ]
[ By now, the cracked window nearby has completely steamed up, likely due to the heat their own emotions seem to generate. When Pyrrha asks what he wants to do, he looks away for a second, feeling a little shy himself all of a sudden. ]
Me? I'm torn between doing more of this or getting cleaned up...
[ Nevermind the weird as hell weather phenomenon. ]
[ It's a classic case of what he wants vs. what he needs right now. Though, not once does it occur to him that Pyrrha would cheat. ]
Heh, we're really gonna let a coin decide?
...wait, I don't have any coins. Do you?
[ And just because they're standing so close and on the verge of being irresponsible, he puts a hand in one of Pyrrha's pockets or belt pouch or whatever she's wearing. ]
[ Normal trousers! So, a pocket somewhere, because these aren't the jerk lying-about-pockets trousers that fashion is convinced women want these days. He can reach in there, it's no big. ]
Yeah, right there. Go ahead.
[ Anyway, she's about to say something Mom-like, hopefully he can let it pass by without ruining everything, ]
You should always carry change on you, Jaune. You never know when you might need it.
action;
Um, well....
[ no she definitely can't; vague and enticing is not her strong suit ]
I'm not sure.
[ then, blurting out: ]
The bed!
action;
[ He stuffs the rest of his taco down his mouth and begins hammering away at the last piece of the roof. ]
Come help me hold this down. It'll be quicker if we do it together.
[ And they should hurry indeed, as the clouds are starting to form over their heads. So much for a sunny day. ]
action;
Well, at least she succeeded in something, even if it wasn't enticing him. She'll just have to discreetly break her own bed once they're down there.
... a raindrop hits the back of her neck, and she squeaks. ]
action;
That's not rain!! We gotta GO--!!
[ It's mud. It's fuckin' raining mud. ]

how could this happen to meee— ]

[ Now that they're safely indoors, with a successfully fixed up roof, Jaune lets out a small laugh. ]
We should get cleaned up before I check out your bed...
[ or they can get down and dirty i guess ]

Let's... not stand so close to the windows...
[ ALSO ADDS THIS TO HIS LIST OF SHIT TO FIX ]
So-- you broke the bed? It's no big deal...!

Pyrrha can't quite get a bead on what she's feeling, although the weight of it is almost uncomfortable, like sucking in water in deep humdity. ]
The bed isn't broken.
[ Okay, we're doing this. Apparently. Something. ]
I went up there because I was thinking, the house is empty, it's just us...
[ DOES HE GET IT YET ]
no subject
... Pyrrha?
[ LOOK, HE'S GETTING THERE ]
no subject
Yes, Jaune?

You got something on your face.
[ Implying it's the mud, but when he guides her chin to face him, he plants her a cute kiss on her lips. ]
It was me!

It looks nice to me.

[ But, seriously, boy. Get over here. ]

[ He presses his forehead against hers a little harder, which is followed by him stepping forward, trapping Pyrrha between a wall and Jaune's body. ]

So, heads I shower, tails we don't kiss. Deal?
no subject
[ Although, that may be contingent on what happens after the shower - no. Nikos? FOCUS. ]
Heads, we get cleaned up. -- Separately.
[ look, it needed to be clarified ]
Tails... [ Yeah. ] Well.
